Svanen operates within the historic walls of Svaneapoteket, a neoclassical pharmacy that has stood in downtown Oslo since 1896 and is now protected as a cultural heritage site. Step inside, and you’re transported to another era: marble columns, dark wood paneling, vintage apothecary cabinets—and swans everywhere, the venue’s elegant namesake.

But don’t let the history fool you—Svanen’s team pairs this rich past with bold, contemporary cocktails. Their menu draws inspiration from the Latin labels still found in the old drawers: juniper, fennel, rowan, gentian—all reimagined with Scandinavian ingredients and cutting-edge techniques.
